Murumuru Butter - a wonder for your skin and the environment
Our beloved Reset Barrier Balm has had it’s own reset …
We’ve always had 3 skin-loving butters in every jar – Kokum, Mango and Shea. But we’ve just released our new formula that swaps Shea for a more luxurious and skin-loving butter that penetrates into the deeper layers of the skin and gives a more matte-feel, while providing incredible skin benefits with even deeper moisturisation and nourishment.
Murumuru butter has quickly become one of my favourite ingredients. It’s exotic, light and slightly nutty aroma is heavenly. Even on its own I am in love with the softening affect it has around the eyes! The butter absorbs easily into the deeper layers of the skin, delivering a unique composition of essential fatty acids (Omega-3 and Omega-6), Oleic acid (Omega-9), high antioxidant content, Pro-Vitamin A, and notably a potent dose of Lauric acid (at around 45%!).
What does this mean for your skin?
These components in particular work to restore elasticity, have superior moisturising abilities, soften and reduce fine lines & lock in hydration. Lauric acid has also been studied for its anti-fungal, anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties, great for healing acne, abrasions and eczema. Coconut is another oil that is high in Lauric acid, but is unfortunately also high on the comedogenic scale … whereas Murumuru will not block your pores.
Social and environmental responsibility
It’s not just the skin health benefits that have us excited about this ingredient. Our cold-pressed Murumuru butter is sustainably harvested, obtained from the fallen seeds of the Astrocaryum Murumuru palm, which is importantly a native tree of the Amazon. The harvest and production of the raw materials does not impact on the health of the tree, and provides a livelihood to communities in the Braganca region of Brazil.
Ultimately, this means we are encouraging the preservation of this native tree, making the Amazon more valuable standing than cut down.

You’ll also be able to continue to enjoy the Reset Barrier Balm at the same price, despite Murumuru butter being more expensive. We believe moving in this direction in terms of environmental and social responsibility is important – and every step counts.
